Characteristics of quartz glass
Quartz glass is a kind of special industrial technology glass made from silicon dioxide.
It is an excellent basic material.
Quartz glass sheet has a series of excellent physical and chemical properties, such as:
1. Heat resistant
The softening point temperature of quartz glass is about 1730 ° C,
which can be used under 1100 ° C for a long time
and 1450 ° C for a short time.
2. Corrosion resistance
With the exception of hydrofluoric acid, quartz glass hardly reacts with other acids,
and its acid resistance is 30 times that of ceramics and 150 times that of stainless steel,
especially its chemical stability at high temperatures is unmatched by any other engineering material.
3. Good thermal stability
The Coefficient of thermal expansion of the glass is so small that it can withstand drastic changes in temperature.
Heating quartz glass to around 1100 â ° C does not cause it to crack when placed in room temperature water.
4. Good light transmittance
The optical transmittance of quartz glass is over 93% in the whole spectrum from ultraviolet to infrared,
especially in the ultraviolet spectrum, the larger transmittance is over 80%.
5. Good electrical insulation
The resistance of quartz glass is 10,000 times that of ordinary glass.
It is an excellent electrical insulating material and has good electrical properties even at room temperature.
